Community Celebration of Place is the recipient of the 2012-2013 MRAC - Arts Learning Grant. Community Celebration of Place will work with 125 7th grade students at Sanford Middle School in an Elders' Wisdom, Children's Song residency. Using the stories of community elders, students will learn song writing and performance skills, and understanding about their community by integrating the arts into Social Studies. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. www.mrac.org
