Julie Larson

It Professional and Mother of Four

We are here today to honor Ms. Julie Larson. We are grateful Mrs. Larson came to our class and helped us learn about her life story. We learned about growing up in Minnesota and being a great Mom. We learned that having a family helps you learn about new things that you may not have imagined and may connect you to places in the world you didn’t know much about before. We learned that it’s always important to try our best and do our homework.

Mrs. Larson was born in Minneapolis, and now she lives with her family in Chaska and there have been a few places in between. When she was little she lived in Inver Grove Heights, Hastings and Cannon Falls. After high school she lived in Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. After lots of moving around it was love that made her finally stay put in Minnesota. She met Sharrel and has lived here ever since. She works at Target as an IT person, and even though she doesn’t work with customers in the store, she still gets to wear Khaki pants and red shirts to work!

Emily Larson, our classmate, is the oldest child for Mrs. Larson and Mrs. Peterson. Emily is adopted and her birth country is Guatemala. Guatemala is a beautiful country with an amazing history in Central America. Emily has three brothers and sisters and they are all originally from Guatemala. Tori is in third grade and Christian and Alex are in Kindergarten. Mrs. Larson kept saying how lucky she feels to have such amazing children. They hope to travel together as a family to Guatemala in the near future. She also said how happy she was that her children had the opportunity to go to a school where they can learn Spanish. She thinks it is great that students today have the opportunity to be multi-lingual so they can learn more about the world and other cultures through the gift of language.

Family has always been an important part of Mrs. Larson’s life. She has one older brother Mike and a younger brother Adam. After her parents were divorced she lived with her Mom and her Step Dad in Cannon Falls and spent time with her Dad on the weekends. Playing softball has also been a big part of her life. She played in high school and Mrs. Peterson, her partner, was a softball star! They used to play a lot of softball together before they became Moms.

Mrs. Larson said that life now is kind of crazy…but crazy in a good way. If you can imagine how busy life can be when you have 4 elementary school children who need to do their homework, chores and all the things they love to do….it’s a lot of work but it’s the best kind of work!

Sometimes she said she feels like a taxi driver because she spends so much time taking kids to different events almost every day. Even though it’s busy and a little crazy at times, she feels very grateful to have such an awesome family.

Mrs. Larson said that she really admires people who don’t give up when things get hard. She talked about always trying to do our best at school and how important it is not to give up when things get a little hard. She said that she has learned a lot from her friends, family, kids and partner about perseverance that has really helped her in her own life. So hang in there and don’t give up!

We are here today to honor Mrs. Larson. We hope you like your song! We would like to thank Ms. Larson for coming into our class and sharing her life story with us. We would like to give you this rose and photograph is appreciation.

HONOR SONG LYRICS

You Can Do It!

Honoring Julie Larson

You Can Do It!
(Honoring Julie Larson)

Lived in many places, in my life,
Two different houses, many different sights

Summers in California, my brother Adam was so nice
My best memories is time spent with my family

Played softball in Cannon Falls,
College in Colorado. Tried to do it all.
Traveled to more places like Arizona, New Mexico
To a party at Christmas where I first met my love

(Chorus)
You can do it, experience the world
No matter where you go, it will help you grow
You can do it if you work hard
You may be blessed like me and bring four beautiful children home.

Went to Guatemala for my Emily
Traveled there many times to grow our family
Five wonderful children that's where our family began
One day we hope to return to their beautiful homeland

Every night we go to sleep and everyone's calm
I'm just so grateful for it all
Watching them grow and learn new things
Reading with my children, my favorite place to be

Even on your hardest days
Don't ever give up,
Through heartache loss and pain,
Do everything you can
To love your family and live happily

(Chorus)
