Former Teacher/Principal Returns to Her Old Classroom

Arlington resident Arlene Fischer, for the first time in years, recently sat on a chair in her old classroom at the Green Isle Community School (GICS).

Fischer, who served as teacher/principal at the former Green Isle Elementary School for several years before her retirement in 1991, returned to the facility and was one of three residents interviewed as part of the upcoming Elders’ Wisdom, Children’s Song event at GICS.

“Work hard and study,” Fischer told the students during the interview process. You’ll be happy that you did. Don’t be lazy about your school work.”
