Highland Elementary students in Columbia Heights celebrate the life stories of three elders

Earlier this month, elementary students in Columbia Heights recognized three community elders by sharing their life stories through musical performances.

About 25 years ago, Larry Long began Elders' Wisdom, Children's Song in conjunction with the West Metro Education Program, which is an intergenerational and interdisciplinary approach to building community through the arts.

On Dec. 17, Highland Elementary fourth-graders honored Jai Ramnarine, Nely Gutierrez and Connie Morgan. To thank them for sharing their life stories, each elder received a rose and a group photo in appreciation. Read full article...
